Elsafe Troubleshooting
Safe is open:
1. Symptom:-One long beep when you try to enter a code
Cause:-A code is stored in memory from the previous locking.
Or
The safe needs to be reset by a service opening with the service unit.
Solution:-Press Reset and enter the code.
Or
Service open with service unit.
2. Symptom:- Safe is dead
Cause:- Batteries too weak.
Or
Power or keyboard - cpu connection failure.
Or
Broken electronics.
Solution:- change batteries
Or
Check all connection and wires.
Or
Replace electronics, component by component.
1. Symptom:- one long beep when you press lock.
Cause:- the entered code does not have enough digits.
Solution:- Enter a code with four digits and press lock.
2. Symptom:- The safe is moving its locking mechanism when you press lock. But it stops before reaching locked position, waits for a few seconds, returns to open and beeps three times.
Cause:- Locking latch hits frame or another blocking object on its way to locked position.
Or
Battery voltage too low.
Solution:- lock for objects obstructing the locking latch movement. Make sure the door properly is properly shut and try again.
Or
Replace batteries.
3. Symptom:- when you press lock, there is no sound from the locking mechanism. After a few seconds, the safe beeps three times.
Cause:- Locking mechanism's motor is not running.
Solution:- Check motor and its wiring.
4. Symptom:- Safe does not lock when you press lock. After a while the safe beeps three times.
Cause:- Door not shut.
Or
Malfunctioning door switch.
Solution:- Make sure the door is properly shut.
Or
Check door switch.
1. Symptom:- When you enter the code, the safe beeps three times and does not open.
Cause:- Incorrect code.
Solution:- Key in correct code.
Or
Open with service unit.
2. Symptom:- When you enter the code the safe tris to open, but after a few seconds it beeps three times.
Cause:- Locking latch stuck.
Solution:- Wiggle the door while entering correct user code to release locking latch.
3. Symptom:- When you try to hit one of the keys, the safe beeps once for approx 1 second.
Cause:- Safe is in a 30-minutes countdown because somebody entered five different incorrect codes.
Or
Safe needs to be service opened because the locking latch did not reach locked position.
Solution:- Wait until countdown is finished and open the safe with correct code.
Or
Service open with service unit.
4. Symptom:- When you try to hit one of the keys, the safe beeps once for approx 1 second. In addition it is not possible to do a service opening of the safe.
Cause:- Safe is in a 30- min countdown because somebody tried five times to service open the safe with incorrect service code.
Solution:- Wait until countdown is finished and service open the safe with the correct service code.
Or
Decode the safe with a safe link.
5. Symptom:- Safe appears to be dead. It is not possible to do a service opening.
Cause:- Empty batteries.
Solution:- Connect the 9v backup battery to the service unit and service open the safe.
Or
Change batteries in safes.
The most critical scenario for a malfunctioning safe is deadlocking. Normally the service unit will open the safe, either by a service opening or a decoding. But rarely these procedures cannot open the safe. Even if the user is desperate to get their valuables back, it is vary important to remain calm, and follow these simple steps to solve the problem.
Does the safe have power
Connect a 9v backup -battery to the service cable. Refer to the service unit's manual for more information.
Is the service unit ok
Go to another safe and try the service unit.
If it works, the problem is in the safe.
Is the service contact ok
Replace the keyboard with one you know are working from another safe or spare part stock.
The very last option is drilling the safe open. Contact local distributor or elsafe office for drilling guidelines.
If the malfunctioning safe is open and none of the steps in previous sections have solved the problem, you are most lightly facing a fault in the electronics.
Follow these steps in order to locate the faulty component.
Make sure the safe has sufficient power. Check batteries, wiring and connections.
Measure the voltage on the CPU board and key board power connectors.
Replace keyboard with one you know are working.
Replace with one you know works.
Replace with a working CPU-board.
Check and replace components such as door switch, activator etc. Remember to check their wiring and connector as well.
